What’s in your share?

  • Salad Mix

  • Butter Lettuce

  • Napa Cabbage*

  • Radishes*

  • Red Onions

  • Sweet Peppers

  • Tomatoes

*Radishes - We were pretty excited to have radishes back on the menu, but as you will see, there is some cosmetic damage on the outer skin. This is perhaps a result of the rain we got a few weeks ago, but most likely a myriad of factors. They are beautiful on the inside and so tender and juicy that we could not bring ourselves to waste them. The variety is called “Bacchus” and is a great raw addition to salad, an ingredient to sitr fry up with the napa, or an easy quick pickle.

Napa Cabbage* - It’s stir fry season! We have a few more fall brassicas coming up, and they have an excellent shelf life if stored correctly. Napa, kohlrabi, radishes, carrots, turnips, can last you through October if they are stored in a bag or closed container. Next week will bring bok choy and celery (and perhaps salad turnips), so if you’re feeling like you’d like to save a kohlrabi or some of the napa for a future stir fry, don’t feel like you need to eat it all right away!

Happy October friends and family!

Fine time of year. For me, fall is where and when contrasts don’t contradict; rather, they collide, clarify, and - honestly - beautify. A symbiosis of shadow and light. All things small, cast towers, their silhouettes. And yet, no matter how large, fixed, and sure, winter’s grace comes to humble. Here, we remember, and appreciate life after, the richness of decay, feeding whatever makes way for more. Green to flames to brown crumbles, dust on wind. Each from all; to all that await. And I am eager to see what will grow from here. And in this, the season(s) fold(s).

Tonight, we enjoy warm sausage & veggie stew and a thickly buttered cut of sourdough aside close friends around a fire. Flames more ancient than memory. The air is cool.

Is it just me, or do we Breathe deeper and listen further; And yet, both depth and distance bring us closer?

Reflecting before rest.
