Here is the final share of the season! I’m remembering back to last season, when we were just finishing our trial “add-on November share” and being really glad that the season was over because it was cold and most everything was frozen. This season is quite different! Aside from three nights of hard frost (and one gorgeous snow) everything is still alive and vibrant in the field. Though we are excited to have a different weekly rhythm for a couple months, this season couldn’t have ended on a higher note.

The weather was beautiful for harvesting and washing up until the very end, and everyone’s spirit were high. Our Tuesday crew spontaneously started a new tradition of bringing soup to eat after the harvest and we are hooked. We’ve decided that sharing a small meal together after harvest is a great way to end the day, especially because we’re all really hungry (and borderline hangry).

So huge thanks to you all, whose support we are honored to have. We love being part of such a cool community and can’t wait to continue to learn more about you all. We’re planning a few new things to get more involved in the community next season. Our farm is a fun place where people want to be, and we’re finally feeling ready to open it up to the community. Stay tuned for dates for “Community Work Days” and the “Harvest Potluck” next season. The work days will be open to anyone in the community who wants to come, and may be appealing for those who can’t commit to a workshare or membership in the CSA. The potluck will be for CSA members only and should be a darn good time.

Happy Hibernation and Holidays! Feel free to keep in touch over the Winter.

Love, Village Farmstead
