What’s in your share?
Beans (or Summer Squash)
Sugar Snap Peas
Snow Peas
Salad Mix
Broccoli
Turnips
Scapes
Dill
Who doesn’t love a sugar snap pea!? These are one of the first snackable items we see in the shares. We leave the “hats” on as a sign of freshness, but also to help the peas store longer. Be sure to peel the string off starting with the hat! They are best eaten fresh, but we do cook them, especially if we have a stash frozen for the winter. We love putting them in a summer pasta salad with pesto and cherry tomatoes!
Snow peas are crunchy and can be eaten cooked or raw. Unlike a sugar snap pea, a snow pea has a flat pod with peas that bulge out, being favorable in a sauté or stir fry. Our favorite way to eat them is sautéed with butter, garlic, and lemon zest and then garnished with fresh mint.
In our fifth season broccoli certainly wins most improved. This harvest wasn’t perfect, but it is by far better than it has ever been, and we are tickled to share it with y’all.
